It's been some really good quality time with Y these past
few days. We love our child and have been really been
together in a healthy way. I'm proud of how well she
handled the delivery and how on-point she is as a mother.
Still working on a sleep schedule, but we're doing it
together. Shooting the shit like the good old days,
playing make believe and telling stories to our baby.
But oh god our 2021 taxes look like absolute hell.
Gma and Gpa visitied. They brought like 50 lbs of
delicious food as well as great gifts. Wonderful to see
them again. Didn't even have time to show off all of the
improvements I've made to the house. Was satisfied to see
her taking pictures of our living room library and nursery.
L kept his eyes closed the whole time like a little shit.
Then he had them wide open after they left! I spent the
morning clearing fallen brush from the side of the house
with a chainsaw and by hand. The deer really love the
fallen branches but they need to go away from the house
before fire season. Cleaned out swingtops in the evening.
Took a trip with Y to the Brown Banana Book Swap while my
mother watched L. First time out of the house without L.
At the book swap, I dumped off dupes from our library and
picked up Gargantua and Pantegruel and a few kids books.
Really hitting our stride with taking care of L and still
getting things done. Y has been playing Pokemon Legends
Arceus, I've been working on mending the deck, prepping the
garden for sowing, and reading. I still have work to get in
order before I can truly feel like I'm starting my
paternity leave but that's just my unhealthy work ethic.
Things will move on without me.
Worked on the garden trellis today. It isn't perfect, but
it's coming together pretty well. Only fucked up a few
cuts. Listened to some old jams in the garage. It's too
damn hot for this time of year. In the afternoon I went
out for some errands and stopped into a brewing supply shop
for bottle brushes and ended up getting a kettle too. The
shopkeeper was super welcoming me and handed me a number
of samples to the point that I built up a buzz. However
in the back I noticed some confederate army statuary in
the back and began to be more and more weirded out by the
dude's references to vikings pillaging and raping and
stuff. But he certainly knew his shit. Definitely won't be
taking any classes there but uh yeah good for him.
Slept well thanks L. Tilled up a second bed near the front
gate. It doesn't have any irrigation currently but it's
kind of nice that way. Monstera getting big, repotted it.
Put some work into the deck and put some rocjs down to line
a path. Really need to hit up the folks getting rid of all
of those rocks. Finished Odd Taxi. Solid anime. And I don't
say that too often
Spent the day with my parents-- worked on a puzzle, set up
a baby camera in their nursery, and watch some of the
winter olympics. We had them learn and play a game of
Cartographers. The sky was clear in the evening so my
father brought out the little telescope he got secondhand
for me. Saw Capella and the moon and listened to the frogs
croaking
Woke up to find someone had sim swapped my number. While on
the phone with tmobile I found they breached my old email
and were trying to get into my coinbase account. Luckily I
have MFA enabled so I don't believe there was any damage
done but I'm sure as hell swearing off yahoo email forever
Dealing with an infant meant I got to stay up and watch the
live coverage from the Ukraine conflict. Not that it
particularly impacts me but I have some morbid curiosity.
