Back to the Humble Bulletin of Recommendations

2022-04-11 - Issue No. 1

Preface

Hey!

This is just my attempt to gather things, sites, gemlogs, articles and capsules that I find interesting and mirror them back to the community with some accompanying commentary. I like pages of links recommendations by other Geminauts, I think things like that are what actually ties the community together.

I wanted to do something similar, to do something structured and at least somewhat regular, so let's see how it goes.

If at least someone finds at least something new and interesting to them on these bulletins, that would mean it was well worth it already.

This is the first test installment, where I'll list some capsules I've found lately and thought they were interesting.

JBanana's Formula 1 Portal

gemini://freeshell.de/f1/

Any F1 fans here? JBanana has a portal just for you, with thoughts on the latest events, short reviews of races, and some states and really nice graphs. There's even a 3-dimensional graph of points finishes by drivers and teams - you don't see that often! Really great job.

Beyond Neolithic Life

gemini://beyondneolithic.life/

A treasure trove of articles, links and commentaries from a pretty unusual perspective. This is a capsule to visit if you're worried about/interested in the negative effect of capitalism on our lives, consequent unhealthy work ethic prevalent in our society, the role of automation and technology in potential demise of our civilization, or if the name Ned Ludd makes your lips curve upwards at least a little bit.

Yoshiyahu's Capsule (Josias)

gemini://josias.dev/

Josias is a passionate follower of Jesus who has a really great capsule - you'll find interesting things even if you, like me, are not religious. Josias writes some good poems and stories, and right now he takes part in GloPoWriMo, which means "Global Poetry Writing Month" - an event that I've unfortunately already missed. I love poetry and I will always endorse poets! The capsule also features a gemlog and a really nice collection of literary works, a whole library. You can read Shakespeare's Hamlet there in its' entirety, too.

Idiomdrottning.org

gemini://idiomdrottning.org/

I find this capsule simply genuinely great. Sandra is a prolific gemlog writer, she writes on a variety of topics, and somehow whatever topic is chosen - I find it interesting, even if I'm not experienced in it (as someone who's only ever played Magic the Gathering, I still read the articles about D&D and I like what I read). Also, a collection of original art is featured on this capsule.
