I've been struggling for a long time with how to deal with note taking and "second brain" on my laptop, which is a Chromebook with a 32-bit ARM chip. It doesn't run Obsidian or really anything else useful, but I figure even if I can't reference everything I'll at least be able to write. Using what? GEdit. Heh.
It parses Markdown, and it works great for this blog too. For sync? Git.
You know what else works ok is VSCode. There are some great markdown plugins, you can view your files, and the Git sync is right there. Not nearly as performant as I'd like on the laptop though. It drags a bit.
One thing I think we're spoiled with these days is the idea that all tools should have a similar experience cross-platform. And if you're not willing to do things on the web (frankly, this old thing does not perform well on a tool like Notion anyway) you have to accept some reduced slickness.
I'm ok with that. I'm here, aren't I?
