i'll admit, i don't really listen to a whole ton of music that much. most of the new stuff i find is either from discord music channels or spotify's discover weekly playlist. however -- every now and again -- i'll finally get off my butt and listen to some an album that makes my heart soar. an album that makes me go 'yeahyeahyeahYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAH' internally. whether it's a full-on collection of bangers or a solemn anthology, these... are my favorite albums of all time.

The King Of All Time 1979 Babeyyyyy. when i first heard this album in 2015 i fucking fell in *love* with it. it's peak indiepop and it's so dorky and SOOOO good. (even if joe hawley sucks lol) the album goes places, from up-beat anthems to self-introducing songs to solemn songs about regret to a song about wanting to date the Olsen Twins. i cannot recommend this album enough to people who don't know what an indiepop is. 10/10
not quite as iconic as MMMM imo, but definitely still worth your time. it definitely has more 'refined indie band with a tinge of ambition' energy compared to that album, but again: it's worth the listen. if you like songs about cannibal girlfriends or sacred beasts or scarecrows: then grab this album off the shelf and don't look back.
waaaaay back in the ancient year of 2015, i was very slightly involved with a music community known as 'battle of the bits.' i slowly moved away from them because i realized that i have no ambition in regards to making music, but it was kind of fun being around all those talented people. one of those people was jet "tothejazz" smith, who i followed on bandcamp one day and the rest is history. in january of 2015 he put out a full album called 'uplink', and i *can't* tell you why, but for some reason it has stuck with me for a long time. i don't really listen to the full thing anymore (i mostly just listen to Relationshit Inc. sometimes 'cuz it's so catchy lol), but this album kinda did get me through my community college years. if you like a nice blend of ambient-ish electronic, jams, synthwave, and rap(?!), then unplug your computer and plug into the music. or something like that...

i don't exactly remember where i found graham's stuff from, but it's all great. it's kind of odd if you haven't heard it before, 'cuz it's very sample-based and... weird? but a good weird. absolutely a good weird if you want to listen to something off the beaten path.
nowadays he leans more towards doing vocal-based stuff but this album is the PEAK of his style of the time -- which was just combining obscure samples from 90s cd rom games and plucky, hyper instruments to make some of the most stimmy music i've heard. if you're into wacky-sounding music with a tinge of Computer, you can't go wrong with shoot the moons. absolute banger after banger after banger!!!
remember when i said that graham mostly does vocal-based stuff today? this was the first album of his with said style, and he immediately hit the nail on the goddamn head. i can't decide which of his albums are better, this or Shoot the Moons because they're both so *fucking good.* the instrumentals feel like the wacky tones of STM but toned down just ever-so-slightly, and the vocals mix super well with them. the vibes also go back and forth between each track -- sometimes feeling like a wiggly kitchen to a sappy heartbreak track from 2002. one of the weirder altpop(?) records i've listened to, but still one of the best.
i've never set foot in the state of illinois, so i can't attest to this album's accuracy, but i will say: i am stunned at how good it is. while not really that banger-y, the album is a nice mix between jams and solemn tracks. kinda folk rock-y, now that i think about it. either way the effort put into this album is *astounding.* each track sounds like it has its own story to tell, which adds to the general atmosphere of the album and makes me enjoy it that much more. i absolutely recommend it.
