What the fuck am I doing with my life? I spent another evening just playing random Android games from itch.io, trying to find some hidden gem. Didn't find any.

Eves Drop

Weird little arcade game with a bizarre glitchy art style. /It's New Year's Eve, 1999, and tonight is your last chance to hack the world's largest surveillance corporation before it takes over the world./ In reality, it's a 15-minute long game with some weird mechanics.

It's interesting, but I was also confused the entire time, as there's always too much happening on the screen. The 15 minute length is short enough to not get bored, but I don't know if it's okay to put a price tag on it, as I've seen way better and longer games on itch.io for free. Whatever, *6/10*.

Artificer

Have you played *Doodle God*? That browser game from 10 years ago, where you get 4 basic elements (air, water, earth, fire) and you combine them to form more and more complex elements, like sand, concrete, skyscrapers, etc. It barely qualified as a game, really.

The only problem is that the project is abandoned and very unfinished. The devs said they have moved to other games and have no interest in updating Artificer, so *5/10*. Their latest game, Kraft & Slash, has the same concept and is said to be much better, but it's not available on Android.

Upset Crab

Why the fuck did I even submit this game to HLTB? This is probably some developer's first video game. It's about as basic as video games can be, you walk and you attack. But the crab is kinda cute, *3/10*.

FAT BEETS

https://giantevilrobot.itch.io/fat-beets

This is another weird one.

/FAT BEETS - スーパーリズム野菜 (Super Rhythm Vegetables) is a rhythm/puzzle game that takes the colored note mechanics of music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band with the tile matching mechanics of puzzle games like Bejeweled and Tetris and wraps it up in a retro-Japanese console game aesthetic and all original chip-tune soundtrack./

Again, interesting idea, the problems with this one is: 1) I don't like the music, and 2) I don't love the gameplay either. Because it combines elements of puzzle and rhythm games, it means that you must make decisions extremely quickly, but then the animations are very slow... So the pace is just ruined. There's a lot of potential and a lot of style here, but I just don't like playing it. *6/10*
