I really don't know what I was thinking with this one.
The maths is probabbly *really* wrong.
Not gonna justify my explanation.
Sorry for dumping this text, people that read it.

GoodClover
Just learned you can have a negative base on numbers.
maths is weird
OH MAN
Image of table containing "complex bases", number systems bases on things like i or β2i
*silently closes Wikipedia article*
GoodClover
Base 2 is with two symbols (101 = 5)
Base 1 is just a tally system (00000 = 5)
So base 0 would have zero symbols, and the numbers would be NaN characters long (division by 0).
(or would they be inf characters long? weird weird)
GoodClover
Hopefully a mathematician doesn't see what I said about Base 1.
In (for example) decimal 018 = 18, preceding zeroes are ignored.
zero has a value of zero, as it would in base 1, so 0 being the only symbol we can use, how do we represent a number?
the has to be at leat an "on" number and on "off" number, sound familliar?
So base 1 is actually an exception, and shouldn't be called base 1.
hehe fun, fun, fun!
This is why I like maths
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
i is just sqrt of -1. β(x)i is same as β(-x)
It's called imaginary number because mathematicians have no imagination
swedneck
i think a lot of people have started calling it complex numbers
since "imaginary numbers" kind of puts people off
"what, you can just make up numbers now? jesus christ i hate math"
GoodClover
They have many names, but "imaginary" is the worst as it implies they aren't real (which is wrong and correct)
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
> wrong and correct
Which then?
GoodClover
both
Wait I'll explain in a min
First of all you need to understand that numbers aren't real, they are just something we invented to help us understand our world.
But it matches with reality and works for that, this is usually called "natural maths" and "natural numbers" or something similar.
then we do things that are *physically impossible in reality*, such as divide by 0 or sqare root -1
Whilst these are impossible, the way our system works we can invent an answer so sqrt(-1) becomes i
(this isn't an "answer" just a representation, that was bad wording)
Anyways, the point of this is sqrt(-1) is impossible in reality but possible in our maths system.
complex numbers are a *real thing* but are *imaginary (made up by us humans)*
π (reaction)
if i were to do "real correct natural maths" sqrt(-1) = NaN
GoodClover
Here, to prove my point about maths being inveted, i'ma invent my own maths (that probably already exists).
We all know dividing by zero is impossible but what if
I could say 1β0 = g
therefore x/0 = xg
and boom I will call this the "zero zone" (purely because it sounds cool).
I can even do normal maths to it, as *that's how our human maths system works*:
10g Γ (12g + 3) = 120gΒ² + 30g
I *could* mix this with complex numbers but my brain might overheat
GoodClover
to expand it out:
1. 10g Γ (12g + 3) = 120gΒ² + 30g original 2. 10(1β0) Γ (12(1β0) + 3) = 120(1β0)Β² + 30(1β0) substitute in 1β0 3. 10(1β0) Γ (12(1β0) + 3) = 120(1β0) + 30(1β0) remove square β 1β0Β² = 1β0 4. (10/0) Γ ((12/0) + 3) = 120/0 + 30/0 multiply the numbers by 1β0 β xΓ(1β0) = xβ0 5. (10/0) Γ ((12/0) + 3) = 150/0 do that addition 6. (10/0)(12/0) + 3(10/0) = 150/0 *expand* 7. 120/0 + 30/0 = 150/0 *and simplify* 8. 150/0 = 150/0 and we're done.
I've been spending too much time on this, you've been you. b-bye
(really, why on earth did I bother to do this)
Rethinking my choices on what I spend time on now
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
Why?
GoodClover
I dont know
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
Just simply 10gΓ(12g+3) β 120gΓg+30g β 120Γ(1β0)Β²+30Γ(1β0)=inf
GoodClover
leaves screaming
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
Good cover.
GoodClover
I've probabbly made a big mistake in my maths somewhere too
test9 [EU>EST]πβ
Nah. As little as i understood it checked out
Although you slightly overslaughtered. I put π reaction where you could have stopped.
GoodClover
I know, this happens when I get tired
I explain my explanations
you can even tell from the way I worded it that everything after that reaction was an after thought, and then an after-after-thought.

If island with brits is Great Britain, then Ireland is Small Britain?
amα΅α΅anda [EU]
The Irish for Wales is "little britain"
GoodClover
Britain is England and Wales, Scotland makes it Great.
amα΅α΅anda [EU]
"Britain" has been used for~ 2000 years, Brittany in France is where the Roman Brits went after the Anglo-Saxons invaded, hence the name
amα΅α΅anda [EU]
When England (which included Wales) joined with Scotland, the Scots tried a "South Britain" (England) + "North Britain" (Scotland) thing
But the english were like "nah, we're the boss"
