My bike has hydraulic disk brakes[1], and the pads on the rear brakes were really worn out. Because of the general shortage of bikes and bike parts I had to look around a bit to find new ones, which were about $10.
It turns out the brake disk also needed changing, and a new one was a bit more than $80.
Shop attendant: ”Do you have the special key you need to remove the brake disk?”
Me: ”… How much do you want for fixing it all for me?”
The $30 extra for the work feels like a bargain. I’ve never replaced hydralic disk brake parts before, and quite frankly I think that just getting the gears tuned after removing and replacing the back wheel is time-consuming.
But hey! It’s fixed now!
[1] I have no idea if that’s what they’re called in English. Hoping kelbot will correct me if I’m wrong 😉
