A long afternoon walk up to Hughesdale station then following the old Outer Circle route through Boyd Park & the Urban Forest down to Waverley road. Continued around in a circle along Waverley road over the footbridge across Warrigal road and through the creekside park then back south through Oakleigh.
Once again the three Tawny frogmouths[1] were asleep in the tree by the scout hall, they seem so easy to spot now that we know where they are... but I could be walking past dozens of others in trees where I don't look up and don't see them. The Greenhood orchids are still flowering, and a few more of them are out, so once we'd seen a few we spent half our time staring down into the leaf litter looking for more and the other half looking up into the treetops.
Only suburban birds the rest of the time; plenty of Noisy miners[2] and Rainbow lorikeets[3] down in the Urban Forest through Glen Iris, then Common mynas[4] and Little ravens[5] on the lawns and in the gardens
