A cold and wintery day, there was a storm from around 2-6am and flurries of rain and hail later inthe morning. Apart from essential grocery shopping we spent the day at home, and other than optimistically hanging out the washing we spent the day at home inside.
While hanging out the washing there was an unmistakable creaking call and a small flock of 5-6 Yellow-tailed black cockies came swooping in over the neighbours' houses and across our garden, swerved around the bay tree and out over the railway lines, then swooped off between cypresses heading north. Very low today, I'm not sure if they're looking for food or trying to stay warm or out of the wind, but a lovely view as they passed overhead. Half an hour later I saw on twitter that @parrotoftheday 5km or so to the south had spent some time watching and photographing a flock ... I wonder if it was the same ones?
