Out on my daily bike ride and a stop at one of my current favourite places, the Glen Iris wetlands on Gardiners creek. A family of just fledged welcome swallows[1] on the railings at the pond nearest the main bike path making lots of noise at each other, taking it in turns to swoop off for a turn above the pond then return. Parents shuttling back and forth feeding them. As a change from the ubiquitous wattlebirds[2] & noisy miners[3], a white-plumed honeyeater[4] came out of the ti-tree and sat in plain view above the pond for while.
