First day in a couple of weeks back at work in the office and out on my lunchtime walk in the surroudning streets. Grey and overcast windless day, a light spattering of rain as I started but it only lasted a minute or two. The dullness of the day seems to make the shrieking noise and vibrant colours of the Rainbow lorikeets[1] stand out even more, shooting past overhead or perched in pairs in the trees preening. There's also a few Pied currawongs[2] around and pairs of Magpies[3], both calling quietly and hunting for food in the rain-softened soil
