Hello. I'm fab. That means "fabulous"! (In reality it means "fat and bearded", but who likes to hear that?) If you want to know my real name, send an email with a good reason why. I don't want my identity scattered all over the internet, so I use this pseudonym.
I had a gemini capsule before at rawnix.org, where I provided some services. But there was no real interest, so I dropped this domain.
On the other hand I'm still very interested in the Gemini space, so once again I set up a smol capsule. This time only for my personal use without any other services. There are already lots of free Gemini hosting sites / tildes / pubnixes out there to choose from if you don't want to set up your own server.
My interests are mostly based in Computers, Free Software, Online Privacy, GNU/Linux and other free Operating Systems, Self Hosting and Home Automation. I like to tinker around with microcontrollers like Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32 or single board computers like the Raspberry Pi.
Concerning programming languages my interests are broadly based. At the time of writing I'm learning Rust from the online book as this is the cool new kid in town. There are even efforts to create a tool chain to program the ESP32 in Rust which is awesome! Can't wait to look into that.
All my knowledge in these fields I taught myself in a self-educating and autodidactic way, thanks to the people who shared their good work, ideas, knowledge and wisdom and make it available for free as in freedom. I'm not a professional or expert at all. I'm just an enthusiast and hobbyist. So keep that in mind if you try some of my projects or follow a tutorial which I (maybe) write. Although I try my best to be accurate.
I'm a neurotic smoker since I'm 15 years old. I started before smoking became completely "political incorrect". And I drink a lot of coffee. But I don't drink alcohol or things like that. Those days are long over. Fortunately! I couldn't stand to be 16 again.
I'm not married or liaised. In fact, I like being alone. I like to have my own space without considering anybody. In the past I really tried to get close relationships but they never worked out. But since I gave up on this my life became a lot easier. It may seem odd to normal people but I finally became happy without a partner.
