Time is an illusion

-------------------

What I really love about gemini and gopher is that time doesn't really exist here. Or rather, it is perceived very differently, compared to other spaces of the internet.

I think the term 'capsule' is fitting, too. Like a time capsule.

At least that's what I feel every time I open bombadillo and start surfing. There's always something to read, at it will be waiting for me to read it, no matter how much time has passed.

The conversations between posters are advancing, yes, but they take all the time in the world to reply. There's no pressure to reply RIGHT NOW, nor to churn out content (god how i hate that word!) to keep up with the trends.

Plain text is forgiving. It doesn't care if I am too poor to update my specs, I can still be a part of its world. I am actually writing this from an old battered toshiba my parents gave my when I graduated highschool, back in 2009. The laws of consumerism tell me I shouldn't really be using this outdated piece of crap, but here I am, enjoying the internet from a rescued piece of crap.

Tech is not my field, just a hobby I'm pretty amateur at. My thing is the visual arts, so naturally I'm a very 'visual2 person. Design and pictures and how they are interwoven are pretty important for communication, at least in my mind.

But even if the 'graphical' aspect of old internet protocols is next to zero, I can't help but think that the interactions on here are the most human of all I've experienced on the net for the past years. It's kinda sad, really.

-----

I've been trying to relearn html, since I can't remember the last time I made anything with it. So I got myself an account in neocities. My webpage is Very Amateurish, but I love it and I'm having making it from scratch. There are some amazing websites on neocities, too. I spent hours last Sunday surfing through cute anime shrines. It's so cool!

I also validated my account on sdf.org! I'm having a hard time trying to learn how to make gophermaps, though.

So in the span of a week or so I've increased the number of sites you can find me. I don't really know what to do with this one...should I keep it? Maybe I should post only in Spanish in here? I'll think abou that later. There's plenty of time.

I should really go and take a shower before I am late to class.

Take care people!
