Three people have been airlifted to safety in Dublin this evening, after being stranded by high tide in Sandymount.
A multi-agency response was launched shortly before 8pm following reports of people stranded by the incoming tide.
Among the emergency services attending the scene were coastguard crews from Dun Laoghaire and firefighters from Donnybrook and Tara Street.
Water rescue-trained firefighters also deployed a rescue sled to the scene.
The Rescue 116 helicopter brought the walkers to safety, with the rescue having been completed by 8.45pm.
