Planning permission is being sought to build 151 homes on the north side of Galway City.
Cairn Homes Construction Limited has submitted a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for a residential estate off the Letteragh Road, on the outskirts of the city.
This Strategic Housing Development would comprise 93 houses, 16 duplex units, and 42 apartments, along with a creche.
The 42 apartments will be located in a part four storey, part five storey building fronting onto the Letteragh Road.
The site of the development is located to the south of the Letteragh Road, with agricultural land on one side, and the existing Sliabh RÃoga estate on the other.
The estate would connect to the Letteragh Road, but also to the proposed N59 Link Road along its western boundary.
This link road is intended to connect Rahoon to the N6 Galway Ring Road to the north.
Landscaping of the site proposes to have green wooded areas along its southern and western boundaries, as well as a public communal area towards the eastern side.
The estate will be served by a total of 280 car parking spaces, along with 180 dedicated bicycle spaces.
A decision on the Strategic Housing Development application is due from An Bord Pleanála by August 2 of this year.
