A man in his 50s is still being detained in connection with the shooting a man in Co Dublin yesterday afternoon.
The victim, who is in his 30s, is in a critical condition in Tallaght University Hospital after he was shot in the head.
The incident happened at Hazel Grove off the Blessington Road on the outskirts of Tallaght, at the foot of the Dublin mountains.
Gardaà are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for anyone else at present.
The scene of the shooting remains sealed off as a crime scene today.
The injured man is the father of a newborn baby.
Gardaà are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
They believe a group of men were out searching for foxes when their dog was shot at and that the man was shot following a confrontation.
The man who was arrested is being detained at Tallaght Garda Station and can be questioned for up to three days.
A firearm has also been recovered.
