Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 50-year-old man who died from injuries he sustained while trying to prevent the theft of his car in Dublin last month.
The incident happened on the Robinhood Road in Ballymount at around 6.15pm on Sunday 23 January.
Gardaà said Ian McDonnell had intervened to stop his grey coloured 161 OY 1861 registered Volkswagen Passat from being stolen from his business premises.
During the attempt to prevent the robbery, he was carried on the bonnet of the car for a distance, before he was later found lying on the roadway with "serious life-threatening injuries".
The father of three, who lived in Lucan, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital, where he passed away on 28 January.
He was laid to rest in his native Elphin in Co Roscommon on 8 February.
The two men being questioned about the incident, who are both aged in their 20s, were detained in Dublin today.
They are being held at garda stations in southwest Dublin. Gardaà said their investigations were ongoing.
