P R O G N O S T I C A T I O N
1. What year will mankind next set (human) foot on the moon, and who (nation state, corporate entity, etc) will it be?
Probably never unless they build colonies up there. The bragging rights for going there have been taken already and mining it will have tidal effects here, so no point.
2. Stephenson's "Diamond Age" or Doctorow's "Walkaway"?
Haven't read either so no idea.
3. Will artificial general intelligence be achieved, and if so, when is that likely to be? What will it change about our lives?
I don't think it will ever happen. There are some aspects of intelligence that don't appear to be programmable or can be based in data, like moral choices. Plus such a thing would be a general threat to humanity were it to fall into the wrong hands, so I'm sure the US military either is working on or already has one
4. (When/ will) the COVID-19 pandemic be declared over - ie "endemic", seasonal and no longer an emergency situation?
I'd say 2023-2024. Omicron is more infectious but less severe, so the amount of people in the hospital is the same. Once further variants spread that don't hospitalize/kill so many, then they'll have no reason for an emergency anymore.
5. What does the year 2072 look like in your mind's eye
It's going to be a shitshow of massive proportions. For further information, please consult the book of Revelations.
