Salus is the goddess of safety, health, and welfare. An offering on the hilltop shrine to Salus unsured health and safety.
Salus seems to have once been an agricultural deity, who ensured the health of the crops.
On coins, Salus is shown holding a scepter and feeding a sacred snake from a *patera* (ritual plate). Sometimes, she is also shown holding sheaves of wheat; most likely these depictions are from more ancient times when she had a stronger agricultural association.
