Well, the GemSpace (Capsule, whatever, ...) is up. Still haven't fought systemd to a stand-still but that's largely a "who cares". We're serving content. We have a Gemini Blog (Journal, GemLog, whatever, ...). And we have articles.
A News Log directory is there but empty. Progress there awaits bringing over the work from the Mac. And will evolve.
Next is to make this directory structure a 'git' repository so we can work on it from afar and synch up when happy. That will make the NewsLog work easier. It will also handle the backup strategy. Things can be worked on globally and synchronized locally. Good 'git' habits, like all important technical habits, are the key to success with all this.
Booster Jab on Thursday the 20th. Tired, generally achy, sore shoulder (weird) on the 22nd. Was fine on the 21st. So it goes.
The wagon wouldn't start when we were downtown a couple of weeks ago. Waited a few minutes. It started. I freaked. Called Corbins'. Scheduled ASAP (a couple of weeks). Yesterday, dropping her off for a hair appointment, it just quit when we got to the salon. I waited. It started. Then when I went to pick her up it just died at a stop light at a busy intersection. Minutes later, it started. A buddy picked her up while I drove it to Corbins' and left the key in their dropbox. Then they picked us up. Got a $500/week rental car this morning :-(. We'll see ($).
It's a good car with many miles left in it. Reliability is important :-(
Number sharing on Verizon just does not work. Five phone calls to "get it set up." Then texts stopped working on both devises. Perfect.
So today I had them take number sharing off the primary number nd turn off the line they added to the account. That fixed the texts to the iPhone. And made the Light Phone II a credit-card weight. ($400, but on the company card)
this has been something of a fetish with me ever since Xybernaut (the stock fraud wearable-computer company). It is one of those technologies that "makes sense." But it "doesn't work." The devices are clunky, poorly designed as in don't fit the hand or the keys are not sensitive enough or too sensitive or whatever. I wasted a lot of time and money.
The puppy likes to sleep in my lap in the morning. A good right-handed solution would be a great thing. 'keyb' for the Mac is about as good as I found. And it's not actually great. No sticky capitalization/shift. There isn't another hand so the shift key takes your hand out of position.
The good news is that the crappy Mac keyboard and the one-handed nonsense drove the FreeWrite Traveller off the eBay pile and back into the rotations.
More talk. Small quantities but still just talk. And not going in any direction that is making me any happier. Still the Fern school of design. Boring, cold, and a form of punishment.
One of these days, TheGirls will get their schedules, phobias, and obsessions lined up and we'll do the dresser for sofa swap. I'm not betting it will get done by my birthday. In fact, I would bet against but I am just an old crab.
The big challenge remaining on 7-ph is computer to computer git synchronization. I am sure it is simple. "Search" is obsessed with GitHub (thank you Micro$oft. It has to be built in to `git`.
I believe the fastest path is to ask "Bob". I am sure he will rattle off the answer without reference to any resources. Or Jim.
In a lot of ways, the Traveller is the best keying device I have. Good keyboard. Saves straight to Dropbox through their "PostBox" service. Good battery life. I need to cut it slack and treat it like I wanted (still want) to treat a super-portable typewriter.
No one-handed mode ;-) but I can live with that.
