The metaverse! A mistake!
Facebook! A mistake!
All of it! A mistake!
I would like to beat this dead horse some more and it's my little corner of this place so I will. Expect more in the future.
Cody up there pointed out (correctly) that all of the people trying to build this NEW INTERNET (basically just second life) are big dumb corpos that want us to work for them more and be surveilled harder and buy things. It's all so fucking silly.
We started this internet thing at a bunch of colleges where everyone was high and screwing and doing science all the time (or wishing they were) and no one worried about how they would PROFITS from it.
BUT EVEN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. No not really, but the last 30 years or whatever have quickly become a hellscape mostly because of it. The internet leaked out into modern society. Modern society made the internet bad. The modern internet made society bad. I make the same points over and over.
But now Zuckerberg wants to somehow monetize people spending time together, because he already figured out how to monetize people sharing bad and wrong and dangerous opinions through text and video so why not through (virtual) proximity as well? "I will own every method of communication people use in the future," says idiotic manchild who wishes he was a new Caesar.
I am more verbose than eloquent, but maybe an extreme of the former can make up for the latter. Also, I sure would like to feel things. I'm not angry, you're angry.
oldnet things: spent time last night and today on IRC, which is pleasantly nostalgic. Listened to tilderadio last night for a couple hours while screwing around and cooking dinner, very nice very evil.
dinner: pork chops and roasted veggies, turned out good but the flour mix for the chops needed more flavoring and less flour, also less oil in the skillet next time.
other things: spent time immediately after physical and drug screen doing things that would make me fail those, as a treat. good work me.
