/pr/ GENERAL BUTTHURT THREAD gemini edition v1 Daily reminder that HTTP is designed to transmit hypertext and HTTP status codes should be given by the web server, and not by the application that you put on top of HTTP.

Anyone here?

Teletext appreciation thread! I think teletext is a great technology, comparable with Gemini in some ways, and it's nice that it's still around in most of europe! What i like about it: * privacy-respecting: no data is sent as you browse it * light-weight: it's just text! * you can receive it in remote locations
⋮
I sometimes tried to browse unallocated pages just to see the random colors on the screen! Ads on there were/are quite clever too
Gemini hits the sweet spot between minimal and too minimal and that is why I prefer it now over Gopher
⋮
#712 Well, gemtext is made to avoid having to keep any sort of context (except one bit for monospace blocks). Though I guess you can see nesting locally as levels instead of as blocks
Anyone watch anime???

Pfft. I started in my 30s. No regrets.
This is cool. Wouldn't you share this gemini textboard source code?

Apparently castor doesn't like submitting a form with a hash mark. Here goes:

Somebody teach me how to set one of these up. how does haskell work?
⋮
Yes, stack should also work, though I didn't test it

Yeah, that's too bad, and most good frequencies are reserved too. There's also the problem that people in rural areas wouldn't be easily reached by such a network

Wait, there's actual upload on Gemini? I was thinking that we'd have to use FTP or IRC if we wanted to build a textboard on Gemini.

Textboards > Imageboards
⋮
Maybe the solution is to have a hybrid model. Text is required (or not?) but images are optional, even when making a new thread.
I dont like soydevs.

I like Castor but I agree with no. 78. I tried Deedum and Ariane on android, iirc Ariane was a bit simpler and more reliable but Deedum had more features. I really wanna try out Lagrange. I like that it themes every site slightly differently so they don't all look the same
<script>alert("test")</script>

lol i pressed back in Castor and it resubmitted the form
This is awesome!

If you can talk with your waifu/pc, but need to learn a conlang, are you do that? (I developing smth about that right now)
⋮
No, just a programm. But simple program, without big servers, neural networks and etc.
What Gemini Clinet are people using? (I use Lagrange.)
⋮
I use lagrange. It seems to be the most polished one. Funnily enough i like smooth scrolling in the gemspace but not on the regular net lol. I've used castor before too but it would randomly freeze up for me sometimes.
hello there
⋮
But it's cozy and solid
Anyone here interested in Idris2 growth? Seems like most of small web related software is written in Go, but this textboard is made with Haskell. This is brilliant, but I like deptypes
⋮
(There was an \n between "that" and "Agda")
Wait do identities work here
⋮
Yes, you get a hash of the client cert, as you can see. I could have done something with one of the fields, but that's more difficult to validate
This is proof that I existed.
⋮
I’ve willed myself into existence.

hello!
how can i put this on my own site? great work btw
⋮
Thanks. See gemini://gemini-textboard.fgaz.me/thread/144
this shit still works huh?
⋮
I'll try to keep it up as long as it's feasible for me
Did this board recently switch to dezhemini?
⋮
Aaaand... fixed! It was the missing session id context
Re client certs and usernames -- a nice convention in geminispace could be that if you claim in a forum like this to be e.g. foo@tilde.black, then your client certificate has to be signed by the certificate served by tilde.black, with Common Name "foo". Could this work?
⋮
well, there's a difference between tracking an user without their knowledge and letting them have the power to authenticate themselves
Man, I wish the whole Gemini thing would go not for 80s but for something like 2004 instead. Well I guess the amount of complexity could only be implemented by a person so old that his good old days were in the 80s.
⋮
A slightly better way of providing input would have been great. IMHO that's the only bit that falls short with Gemini.
