While trying to brush up my Galois theory, I revisited the question of whether it is possible to construct a regular 9-gon with straight edge and compass. I knew the answer is no because this involves constructing a 20 degree angle. If it were possible you would be trisecting a 60 degree angle which is ridiculous. It was just that I couldn't seem to reason it straight using my rusted knowledge of Galois theory, so I did a quick google search.
One of the top results was a post on a Q&A site and upon seeing that I was left totally astonished:
Apparently 2020 has changed everything. Not only can a 20 degree angle be constructed, you can now also trisect ANY angle with straight edge and compass. What a treat! That guy claims to have a PhD in mathematics so yeah...
No, seriously. I am not a super smart but I know this is not right. I mean, it's totally okay to have someone posting wrong answers on your website, but with all those ever-so-important "fact checkers" and cutting-edge "AI technology", you are still unable to get wrong mathmatics at such a basic level off your site? Then what about "fake news" and "misinformation"?
That was, until I realized it was Quora, the site that's long been taken over by Chinese shills. OK, never mind.
