This is a compilation of all the warez-reports I released in the year of 1996
plus some extra information on the months I didnt release to get a overview on
which group that acctually won the year of 1996...
- attention * the ratings are made by multiple opinions from people in most
of the different groups. There might also be alot of errors in the release
list about what game needed fix etc. I did try my best...
- Only final release version will be rated
- Only releases within the 50 disk limit will be rated
- Only releases that works 100% will be rated (no beta/unregistered)
- Only releases in english language will be rated
The first working version that is 'properly' stripped will recieve score !
All releases will be rated in a 1-5 point score (1 = crap, 5 = excellent).
Trainers and "real" addons (extra missions etc. NOT sound or animations) will
be rated with one point.
Non-working games that are fixed within a 5 day period will be rated with
a lesser score for each fix needed. Fixes are not awarded with score...
- note * the defination of a properly stripped game is where unnecessary
animations/intros/outros/speech etc is removed. The game must ofcourse
still be playable (ie: Command & Conquer - Hybrid releases in 1995).

dupe - some other group (or the group itself) released the game earlier.
no game - the release is no game
size limit exceeded - for the time being, the size limit was exceeded.
needed fix - the game was not properly cracked
not working - the game was not playable
kiddie game - kids games are not rated

Authors comments: Hybrid started out slow in the beginning of the year and was
almost taken for dead when they suddenly got back on their
feet and sweeped the scene-floor with a few releases / month.
Due to internal fights, Hybrid was forced to split up in the
month of march but still without US suppliers the group ran
smoothly throughout the year and ended up as the second best
group of 1996.
The people that held Hybrid together and kept it from dry out
was ofcourse �UK supply god� Mad Turnip and �Swedish Leader�
Hoson who worked against the competition without giving in.
In august, Hybrid got backup from �Dominators� own Animal and
Dogfriend who helped out on multiple x-mas releases...
To round it up, Hybrid did an excellent year and for being a
euro-based, non-US group they work extremely well...

Authors comments: Napalm who was born in February 1996 didn�t last more than
half a year before it retired. Although releasing alot of
good titles, Napalm never had the quality itself to earn a
good reputation. Most games needed fixes or didn�t work at
all which game Napalm it�s famous status of "Not beeing able
to break out of a glasshouse".

Authors comments: Paradigm (known for a short while as ZEUS) started out in the
month of october when US supply god ZEUS decided to leave his
group �Prestige� and start his own label. The group lasted
until the middle of December when they hooked up with the
people in Razor 1911...

Authors comments: Prestige has been a legendary label on Amiga for many years
but when they tried to hit the PC scene, much people were
doubtful that the earlier success would continue over to
the new machine. I guess you know the answer by now...
Never, EVER has a releasing team made such a success on PC.
Totally dominating most of the months and breaking the record
of most releases in a month EVER, Prestige made it very clear
who is making up the rules on both Amiga and PC.
They came, they saw, they ended up #1 in this report... <g>

Authors comments: Razor 1911 had a slow start like most other groups but made
a nice return in spring and held a average releasing amount
for the rest of the year. Razor 1911 was never a competitor
to the powermongers in �Prestige� but did however win when
we�re talking about quality-factor. With the three biggest
games of the year (Grand Prix Racing 2, Quake & Red Alert)
Razor 1911 sure showed who�s in the scene for quality...
In the end of spring Razor 1911 leader �The Speed Racer�
decided to retire. Still the group seems to be in good hands
as the releases are at the same high quality...

Other groups worth mentioning (in alphabetic order):
(DOM) Dominators - Dominators who was not really active this year had a few
good releases such as �Big Red Racing� and �Sensible World of Soccer�. They
merged onto Hybrid in august and has been very active releasing all Domark
games...
(DNX) Dynamix - Dynamix was a casual creation by the remains of Hybrid US div.
at the time of the Hybrid split in the middle of march. Dynamix didn�t really
make a difference to the scene but did manage to put out a handful of games
before joining �Prestige� and among them the long awaited �Duke3d Nuke�em�...
(LGC) Legacy - Legacy was the group that competed in the early months of 1996.
With titles like �Wetlands�, �Nick Faldo� & �Qwirks� they won these months but
was later known to be a beta-releasing team. Because of their many betas and
non-working releases we therefor decided not to rate this group...
(MTS) Mantis - Mantis started out as �Specie� who was a �Dynamix� supplier was
not interested in joining �Prestige� like the rest of his team. Instead he did
his own store-pickups which ended up in his own group. Mantis did a few titles
among them �Greg Norman Golf 2�, �Flight Unlimited� & �Fzone Fury 3�...
(M8) Motiv8 - Motiv8 did a good job this year with lots of titles. Sadly enough
most of them were dupes on other groups releases which made them end up on such
a low score they were not rated in this report...
(RLX) Reflux - Reflux (earlier known as ROR) was banned from all sites because
of their returning beta-releases. With the ban finally removed they didn�t make
much to shape up their bad reputation which is why we decided not to rate them
at all. It�s too damn hard to find the releases in their pile of shit...
Final words: There you have it folks ! The long expected dupe-checking list of
the 1996 game-releases. For more information about the games,
check out �The Game Review� (c) Ionizer. This year has been full
of surprises. Groups like Hybrid and Razor 1911 was still in good
shape but did not stand a chance against the winner of the 1996
report.. �Prestige�.
Prestige did not only win the year totally but broke the record
of most releases ever in one month. They then broke their own
record again... awesome !
