It's cloudy, my apartment is a mess, my roomates are all gone for work, and Thanksgiving break ends tomorrow.
Turns out, the scholarship situation isn't as dire as I thought it was. Shit's still going down, but I have time to save it. The scholarship programs that pay my rent and living costs right now don't consider dropping funding until the end of the year rather than the end of the semseter. This still isn't a great situation, but it gives me time, which is the most important thing I could use right now. I *only* have to pull a near-perfect semester next year, no biggie!
On the bright side, the summer after this year should give me plenty of time to secure funding should my scholarships fall through. Hopefully this should be the last big twist in this part of my life.
A few days after Halloween my smoking hot bf and I were scrolling through Netflix looking for a scary movie to watch. My bf, being a massive goth and metalhead, has either already seen, or has made up his mind about never seeing damn near every horror movie Netflix has.
Cuddled up on the couch and under a mountain of blankets, we begin our search. We scroll past Splice and Sinister, Creep and Candyman, the Babysitter and the Bye-Bye Man. Eventually we come across something we haven't seen here before. A haunted house movie about a South Sudanese couple taking refuge in the UK. I turn to Felix and ask if he's seen it before, and he hasn't.
(http) His House (2020) Trailer
His House rocked our socks off. I don't want to spoil anything, but trust me and trust the 100% rating Rotten Tomatoes has. It's scary and powerful and shocking throughout. Give it a watch if you have any interest in horror at all.
Anyone here have any good communist theory reccomandations? So far I've listened to the Conquest of Bread, read Reform or Revolution, and talked to friends who've been into this whole communism thing for much longer and have read much more than me. I'll put just about anything on the reading list, but essays and shorter form writing are more likely to be read first.
