Cyclist in his 80s dies in Dublin crash

A cyclist aged in his 80s has died after a crash involving a car and a bicycle in Dublin 10.

Emergency services were called to the scene this afternoon on the Killeen Road in Ballyfermot.

The incident happened shortly before 1pm.

The cyclist, a man in his 80s, was later pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the car sustained no injuries, gardaí said.

Diversions were in place to allow for a technical examination but the road has now fully reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or any road users who may have camera footage to come forward.
