Drugs worth €480,000 have been seized in Athlone and Dublin as part of routine operations by Revenue officers.
An examination of parcels at a premises in Athlone yesterday resulted in the recovery of over €300,000 of drugs.
The haul included almost 5kgs of ketamine, 3.4kgs of chloromethcathinone (CMC) crystals and 1.25 litres of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB).
The drugs originated in the Netherlands and were destined for addresses in Northern Ireland, Meath and Dublin.
Separately, herbal cannabis and MDMA with an estimated value of almost €180,000 were seized during an examination of parcels at premises in Dublin.
The parcels originated in the United States, Canada, Spain and the Netherlands and were labelled as 'tea', ‘books’, ‘bedding’, ‘textiles’ and ‘wigs’.
The parcels were destined for addresses in Dublin, Louth, Laois, Offaly, Waterford and Cork.
