Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow warning for every coast in Ireland with winds set to batter coastal areas from Friday afternoon.
From today, southwesterly winds of force 6 and higher will whip against Cork’s coastal areas, with West Cork coasts to see gusty winds of gale force 8 at times from Saturday afternoon.
Sleet, hail, thunderstorms and gale force winds - the weekend is set to be a wild one.
Today - Friday 7 January
Met Eireann’s snow and sleet warning drops off today at 11:00 am but showers of rain and sleet are set to continue in parts into the afternoon. A chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail.
Showers dying out during the afternoon as milder conditions move in from the south west. Highest temperatures 3 to 8 degrees, mildest in the southwest.
Moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds set to blow from this afternoon.
Tonight - Friday 7 January
Rain is set to become widespread on Friday night turning heavy at times, with a risk of localised flooding.
Temperatures drop as low as 4 degrees, with milder conditions of 8 degrees overnight in parts.
South to southwest winds increase overnight to strong, gusty gales along the coast.
Tomorrow - Saturday 8 January
Saturday is set to start out wet but showers will clear quickly on Saturday morning in the east.
The west is in for some hail, turning to sleet into the evening and possibly some isolated thunderstorms
Temperatures will drop through the day with early afternoon highs of 3 to 7 degrees, with more gusty westerly winds.
