Perl

Benefits of using local::lib

You can use the system Perl.
You can install any modules without root privileges.
You can use it whenever you need it, and not use it when you don't.
Useful for immutable systems when you want to use the system Perl but the system Perl's module library is read-only.

Installing local::lib

perl -Mlocal::lib

Loading local::lib automatically

Place in ~/.zshenv or ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc or something:

eval "$(perl -I$HOME/perl5/lib/perl5 -Mlocal::lib)"

Deactivating local::lib temporarily

eval $(perl -Mlocal::lib=--deactivate)
