Teletext appreciation thread! I think teletext is a great technology, comparable with Gemini in some ways, and it's nice that it's still around in most of europe! What i like about it: * privacy-respecting: no data is sent as you browse it * light-weight: it's just text! * you can receive it in remote locations

Maybe the solution is to have a hybrid model. Text is required (or not?) but images are optional, even when making a new thread.

I like Castor but I agree with no. 78. I tried Deedum and Ariane on android, iirc Ariane was a bit simpler and more reliable but Deedum had more features. I really wanna try out Lagrange. I like that it themes every site slightly differently so they don't all look the same

I use lagrange. It seems to be the most polished one. Funnily enough i like smooth scrolling in the gemspace but not on the regular net lol. I've used castor before too but it would randomly freeze up for me sometimes.

Re client certs and usernames -- a nice convention in geminispace could be that if you claim in a forum like this to be e.g. foo@tilde.black, then your client certificate has to be signed by the certificate served by tilde.black, with Common Name "foo". Could this work?

#133 - Anonymous - Mon, 8 Mar 2021 08:28:03 UTC

well, there's a difference between tracking an user without their knowledge and letting them have the power to authenticate themselves

Go to thread

#114 - Anonymous - Tue, 9 Feb 2021 11:59:28 UTC

Man, I wish the whole Gemini thing would go not for 80s but for something like 2004 instead. Well I guess the amount of complexity could only be implemented by a person so old that his good old days were in the 80s.

#130 - Anonymous - Wed, 24 Feb 2021 21:48:07 UTC

A slightly better way of providing input would have been great. IMHO that's the only bit that falls short with Gemini.
