This page is for me to list interesting chemicals that I find, typically in kids toys.
This reminded me of a product called 'liquid soil' or something like that - basically the crystals expand and hold a lot of water. It has the texture of set jelly (jello) that's been stirred up a lot. It washes off quite easily, and table salt can be used to make it release its stored water content.
A synthetic, acrylic-based, salt-derived polymer that functions in cosmetics as a texture enhancer, binder, and film-forming agent.
This seems to be used widely in cosmetics, moisturisers, and lotions. I got it in crystal form that, when mixed with water, creates a slimy, jelly-like, mixture. It doesn't wash off easily with water, since it clings to the skin and stretches into strings or membranes. It more or less has to be scraped off.
