On External Links

One of the things that makes browsing Geminispace, dare I say, _unpleasant_, is having to follow HTTP links for more information on the topic being discussed by the author. Many clients don't support other protocols, and have no plans of doing so (which I agree with), so it makes it a hassle to follow that link.

I like that some have decided to quote the relevant parts of a certain article or post when the Gemini post is a direct reply. I also very much appreciate the efforts of those like gluon who have created Gemini services such as dictionaries and weather services, they really do make Geminispace more enjoyable.

I propose that when the content being discussed is public domain, we go the extra mile and host it in our own capsules. I understand that this may not be plausible for many due to server constraints such as disk space, but in the future, when I make comments on older books or essays, I will do my best to host them locally on an "Archives" section on this capsule so you too can read them without having to leave Geminispace. I will also provide a link to the source over on the web so you can verify the source youself if you're so inclined.

That's all, have a good day!
