[2021-10-19]..Where.Have.I.been..gmi
Hi geminautes! Long time no see! It's nice to come back here and check a
bit what has changed. There is still some nice traction around this
place. I've been hanging around browsing from gemlog to gemlog today and
it's still such an enjoyable experience.
So that's it, mid-october I can declare the summer over. I would usually
enjoy summer with more outdoors activities than geeking inside facing my
screen. hence why I was away from keyboard for some time.
Been enjoying sailing which is also the perfect excuse to stay offline.
As mentioned in the previous post I wanted to re-share some books I've
been reading over the last few months. Just in case you would be looking
for some inspiration. (All are French book, sorry about that, only a few
likely have a translation).
I just listed them in no particular order with a personal rating.
(5 stars the best)
[**** ] "Ce qu'il faut de nuit" Laurent Petitmangin.
Unexpected, a lot of sensitive topics are being covered.
[*** ] "La Famille Martin" David Foenkinos.
I was in a romantic mood, so that went pretty well. Quick read.
[*** ] "Broadway" Fabrice Caro.
I like Fabrice and his BD, the Discours was cool too. Perfect 40yo
midlife crisis read.
[*****] "Black Out" Mark Elsberg.
Awesome, recommendation for everyone to read.
[*****] "Une priere a la mer" Khaled Hosseini.
Just a small poem, nicely illustrated, heart breaking.
[*****] "Dictionnaire amoureux de la voile" Loic Peyron.
Yeah it's a dictionnary but with all the added value of Loic's
perspective. For the gemini-sailors!
[**** ] "L'Energie Vagabonde" Sylvain Tesson.
Cheeses that is a lot of pages...not something you will digest quickly,
but it makes you travel.
[**** ] "Zero" Marc Elsberg.
I've enjoyed "Black Out" so much that I bought this one as well. Good,
just a bit too geeky and "social network" oriented, which I was not so
much in the mood to read.
[*****] "En vieillissant les hommes pleurent" Jean-Luc Seigle.
Bought for 1euro in a charity shop, the title resonated inside me and
it's a lovely book to read.
[**** ] "Le potentiel erotique de ma femme" David Foenkinos.
Nice title that is a little miss-leading, but just another easy one to
read if you need something different.
I've got a couple others I will write about in another review. I mean,
this wasn't really a review, was it? But more of a list if you're
curious to read something else. I guess I was a little trap in reading
always the kind of same books on the same topics, always nerdy,
cyberpunk, so was re-freshing to read completely different books. And
obviously it's an awesome way to spend time not in front of a monitor...
which I really needed too.
