As much as I love spending time in geminispace, the regular web continues to yield some gems that I'd love to share with y'all here.
We'll start with Natalia Oledzka's site that serves as a portal for her various projects. It came recommended as a place to view fine typography and it does have some very fine typography but like the best of it, it becomes completely invisible to let the content shine through and what content there is on display!
You're welcome to browse through all of it but I'm going to be highlighting my favorites here.
Meant to serve as a reminder of how the public domain fuels creativity and is a gift that never ceases giving, The Public Domain Library collects 12 legendary works of literature and lays them out beautifully, letting you view the works its inspired and also download the full text. It's more than a resource. It's a statement of all we've gained from the public domain and all we stand to lose with the present state of copyright laws.
Astro Zodiac is experimental typography that makes for an unforgettable experience. Best viewed on the largest screen you can get your hands on, there's something very soothing about moving your mouse around to make those scattered stars come together briefly to form our familiar alphabets before your movement scatters them again. Watch as your cursor moving over one of the stars lends you a new sense of perspective and really drives home the theme of witnessing the shifting constellations.
Natalia's site has a lot more on offer, from the use of typography to visualise neural communication in our body to the use of different aspects of typography to explore different aspects of sand. Do take your time exploring it.
Next up is Ebb, a hotel in Dunedin, New Zealand with a website that makes for a small luxury vacation itself. With its photos of vistas that'll make your breath catch and interiors that'll make you exhale in awe, this is a site that deserves to be viewed leisurely. Maybe someday, you'll go see this place that the site only offers a glimpse of.
That's all I've got for y'all this time. Until next time, whenever that might be.
