I wasn't going to write about this particular dream, since I've done a few already, but since I got a reply from perplexing.space[1] I thought I'd mention it.
Just before I woke up this morning I had this dream. It's pretty wild, so bear with me.
I was doing a high dive, and my wife was with me. So we were on the diving board and I jumped and did fine. Now that I'm thinking about it, there had been some diving instruction before that as well -- some stuff about making a small splash and slicing into the water -- that was definitely a thing. Anyway, I did one high dive and it went really well, and beautifully, and then as soon as it was done my wife said, Let's go higher. So she started lifting me up into the air, or the diving board, and eventually it was just her lifting up through the air. I was holding on to her and we went higher and higher.
I looked down and we were getting quite high, and I wanted to go back down -- I said something to that effect, and she said something and kept going. This happened a few times. She kept saying I needed to go ahead and jump, but I didn't want to miss the pool. Or it was a lake and also a pool -- this dream was very loosy-goosy with reality.
Anyway at one point I looked down and I could see for miles -- we were really high in the air, like airplane-height. The pool (it was definitely a pool now) was a small blue dot on the landscape. For some reason I climbed down my wife's body and was hanging by her feet -- I thought about jumping since I'd have about a minute before I hit and had to wake up, but instead I crawled up her body to whisper in her ear, "I'm going to wake up now." And I had to concentrate, but I did.
The weird thing was, there was never an "Oh shit I'm dreaming" moment. It was very matter-of-fact -- I just thought, "Well, I could jump and I'd have a minute or so before hitting, but I'll probably wake up with the sensation of falling," so I decided to just will it. And I almost forgot about the whole thing, but of course I did remember.
I wonder if these *are* related to this "37% ... marked by themes of insufficiently completing tasks" that is apparently indicative of Covid dreams, or if it's something else.
At any rate, I have always wanted to lucid dream -- and last night's might be me getting closer. I'm going to keep dream-journaling here because I think it might be helping.
