"It barn er fd i Bethlehem" In English the lyrics means something like: A child is born in Bethlehem hence Jerusalem rejoices Halelujah He was laid in a manger his realm is endless An ox and an ass standing by saw this Lord and God The kings of Saba came and offered gold, incense and myrhh He was born by a pure virgin his birth was without a man He took upon himself our flesh and blood and yet was not harmed by the devil In flesh and blood he is like us in sin he is unlike us Thus he makes himself like all of us and prepares us for heaven For this blessed time the Lord be praised for ever Thank, praise and honour for ever be to the Wholy Trinity 9. "Min Siel nu loffue herren" The text of the hymn is a Danish early 17th century re-creation of the 103. psalm. The below translation is that of the latin psalm, quoted from http://www.saintgabriels.org/bcp/psalms/103.html. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy Name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. He forgives all your sins and heals all your infirmities; He redeems your life from the grave and crowns you with mercy and loving-kindness; He satisfies you with good things, and your youth is renewed like an eagle's. The LORD executes righteousness and judgment for all who are oppressed. He made his ways known to Moses and his works to the children of Israel. The LORD is full of compassion and mercy, slow to anger and of great kindness. He will not always accuse us, nor will he keep his anger for ever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our wickedness. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so is his mercy great upon those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our sins from us. As a father cares for his children, so does the LORD care for those who fear him. For he himself knows whereof we are made; he remembers that we are but dust. Our days are like the grass; we flourish like a flower of the field; When the wind goes over it, it is gone, and its place shall know it no more. But the merciful goodness of the LORD endures for ever on those who fear him, and his righteousness on children's children; On those who keep his covenant and remember his commandments and do them. The LORD has set his throne in heaven, and his kingship has dominion over all. Bless the LORD, you angels of his, you mighty ones who do his bidding, and hearken to the voice of his word. Bless the LORD, all you his hosts, you ministers of his who do his will. Bless the LORD, all you works of his, in all places of his dominion; bless the LORD, O my soul. 30. "Forl oss med fred naadelig" In English the lyrics means something like: "Give us mercifully peace / Lord God in our time / then there is noone other than You / that can fight for us / than You alone Our God. Let us not fear the man / he is transitory like grass / You alone are our God and creator / your power ist endless / let us fear You only. If we see hardship / of what kind it might be / it is the will of God / He will not spare his Son why should we want to be free." 35. the motet 'Deus misereatur nostri' contains verses 2-6 from Psalm 66 In English the lyrics means something like: "May God have mercy on us, and bless us: may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and may he have mercy on us. That we may know thy way upon earth: thy salvation in all nations. Let people confess to thee, O God: let all people give praise to thee. Let the nations be glad and rejoice: for thou judgest the people with justice, and directest the nations upon earth. Let the people, O God, confess to thee: let all the people give praise to thee"
