Like many I have come to just hate 'browsing' the web, it's become somewhat bloated and just slow, slower than it ever use to be.
When I do browse the net now, I use very few sites and I have god only knows how many plugins I have to help prevent things like ads and all the other stuff that's become the 'norm' of the internet today.
When I discovered the gemini protocol, at first glance I wasn't that impressed, certainly not enough to take the time and effort of creating a capsule, then.. it happened, I got an HTML email on my phone (which broke) the email wouldn't render properly due to me having 'dark mode' turned on, on my phone. After trying to read that email, I contacted one of my co-workers asking how they felt about HTML emails, they replied with "I hate emails." Must admit I didn't expect that response, but it made me laugh.
It was at this time, that I decided enough is enough, I'm sick of all the crap that I have to do, just to "read" a website, all the time thinking.. 'Why can't the internet be like it use to be, a source of information.' Sorry, I'm not old enough to have seen the internet when it was just plain text, I started to use the internet when flash was a 'new' thing and all the rage, towards the end of the 1990s. It was then, that I started to take a serious look at gemini, like many, I did a few 'browsing' links and sites, some of which are linked on the main page for you to visit.
After browsing and learning more, it made sense to me, to make a capsule (gemini name for a site). It made sense that not only should I make a capsule, but that I should be active and move 80% of my browsing to gemini, after all, the internet use to be a tool for learning and communicating with others, of similar mind and interests.
Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be feasible for me to stay away from the internet as we know it today, that's not my intention, after all I use YouTube and various other services daily, but where I can, I will try and use gemini to 'remember' how the internet was and why I initial loved the internet.
