Death of man in Balbriggan treated as murder

Thursday, 25 Nov 2021 16:55

A murder investigation has begun following the discovery of a man's body in Dublin yesterday evening.

65-year-old Christopher Hall was found by his daughter with serious head and body injuries in a downstairs room of his home at DĂșn Saithne Green in Balbriggan.

A post-mortem examination is underway but detectives believe the man was the victim of an attack.

They suspect he may have known his killer and could have unwittingly allowed them into his home.

A forensic examination of the scene is continuing and there are no indications of a break-in or burglary.

The victim was a father to two adult daughters and was known in the area as a quiet man who lived alone.

Neighbours say he had a fall last year and hit his head, but still went out and about and was always friendly.

GardaĂ in Balbriggan are seeking and examining CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the DĂșn Saithne estate.

They do not believe the murder was a random attack and are following a number of lines of inquiry.

There were no indications of a break-in or burglary.

GardaĂ suspect the victim may have known his killer, and as a vulnerable person could have unwittingly allowed the person into his home.
