video essays are dumb. video essays make it hard to critically think about themselves (unless you pause every 5 seconds, which nobody does) because it takes time to think but the video doesn't wait for your thoughts. whenever i watch, i always forget the majority of the arguments / chain of logic presented in the video. but they're so damn convenient to watch, because you just *click* and you get to shut off your brain for 30 minutes.
