Hello, Fediverse

I don't use my Mastodon/Plorema accounts very much. It seems I can't quite get used to a Twitter-type medium, but especially for Gemini I thought it would be worth getting back into Mastodon to see if I could interact with the community more/better. Plus tilde.zone is a great instance, so it's worth a shot.

After thinking today there should be some easy way to toot from the command line, I was happy to find that not only does the tool exist, but it's already in Fedora's repos, AND it's very good. Setting it up was so quick and smooth that it basically just took a few seconds to get it up and running.

What this enables me to do is allow my Gemini-related shell scripts to publish new posts onto my Mastodon account. I hope that doesn't annoy anyone! This post is my first attempt to test this functionally to see if I coded it right, but it's expected to work no problem.

The toots are going to: @benk@tilde.zone
