Midnight Pub

new things, new zine

~tffb

So, I was sitting here with nothing to do, and out of pure self-contemplative boredness (real word?), I decided to make Issue. 2 of the personal zine that I had made a year ago. I won't link it or mention it by name (not gonna self promote on Midnight), but I looked through my old pCloud "writings" file and saw the PDF of Issue. 1 and was like: "yea, I'm kind of proud of that, I will make Issue. 2!". Fun stuff.

I love the concept of zines that were circulated back in the day like "Bikini Kill" (later became a band), and all the things that spurred the Riot Grrrl movement, and also other zines that spurred the Death/Black Metal movement in Sweden/Norway in the late-80s and early-90s. DIY is the best.

So, it is a sunny day here and with a good feeling of accomplishment beneath me, I will enjoy the rest of the day with coffee and cigarettes (which I was very likely to do anyway).

Hope everyone is well :)

I ordered a pack of Kathleen Hanna's zines and reading them is a trip. She was writing when I was like three years old but she was *dead on* about so many things still relevant!

I keep wanting to make a zine, but also I feel like it'd be more fun to draw huge on four sheets of paper and then shrink them into a single-sheet zine, and then that's a Whole Process, so I don't get started. Really antithetical to the whole vibe!

Good to see you TMO! Love your two issues. I love the authenticity, the pictures, the writing. It feels real and human. Thanks for creating them and looking forward for the third issue. By the way, the cover for issue 1 is badass!
