A cool visual digital garden…

I was stalking people on Tilde Pink and I came across this page:

gemini://tilde.pink/~pxltr/

Pxltr’s capsule contained a lot of https links, which made me hesitant to click on because I wanted to focus more on Gemini-based sites. Either way, I gave in and dipped into their little digital garden.

(Ew! Https!)

If you click the link and look at the lower-half of their page, you’ll see this cool spider web of all the content of their digital garden. Each web strand acts like a categorical string leading you one page to the other. I found it so unique and intuitive that I wondered: Why isn’t this the mode of web-surfing? Why can’t all websites be spiderwebs of data and content that we can just follow aimlessly and not have to worry? I know it may seem a little confusing, with all the shapes and what not… But it was so refreshing to see something like that one Gemini. I look at my GemBlog and churn because it looks all bland. I like the minimalist design, but things like the spiderweb-thingy makes me smile.

It reminds me of what we discussed in class about data art and visualization. I may have not thought about it at the time, but after diving into Gemini, my perspective on how the internet and “the web” can be presented in a more complex method. Something to think about.
