I have deleted the CNN link from my browser startup page. 'Tis a silly place. Also goodbye Google News. Goodbye political subreddits. Keeping twitter, still a useful bubbling stewpot. I feel comfortable with the idea that the most useful thing I can do for the Internet, for the time being, is just limit the oxygen I give the dumpster fire.
Three weeks in a Trump chat group.
In other news, strange things are afoot in r/wallstreetbets. The memers are having some lulz with gamestop stock. I feel like we're going to see this same energy over and over in different systems to break the status quo. It's a mad world. Very very funny, but mad.
Do you see? (Not like the South Park scene, but kinda.) The only way to really change the status quo from the bottom in a rigid system is to get REALLY crazy, and get others to buy in to the same crazy until it hits critical mass and screws over the power holding rulers. Sorta like that self defense technique where they tell you to shit yourself if someone tries to kidnap you, but you poop yourself and then you kidnap the kidnapper. Trump being elected president in 2016 is a symptom of an infection that is spreading, unleashed by the consolidation of the Internet communities and distillation of content into its most outrageous form. DO THE ABSURD. ELECT THE IDIOT. BELIEVE THE CONSPIRACY. REJECT THE ELECTION. BUY THE STOCK. FOR THE LULZ.
I'm curious in what other sectors this attitude is festering, waiting for the right moment. I wonder if it's like dominos, if people see the improbable happening in unrelated areas and suddenly it seems like game on. Why not. Trump elected president? Pandemic running amok? Conspiracies eating a political party alive? Big Lies told with no consequences? Capitol Hill overrun? How many other things have we been told will never happen by the powers that be, working in established channels? All of a sudden, all bets are off.
Religion, fanaticism, zealotry, conspiracy, superstition, cult. Whatever word you want. Logic is losing ground as the coin of the realm. Objective truth doesn't matter, facts don't matter, reality doesn't matter. Faith and belief above all.
In astrological terms, the US is approaching its pluto return. Pluto takes 248ish years to make an orbit, so Pluto is approaching the same degree where it was when the US was founded (using the date July 4, 1776) and this transit will be ongoing through 2024. The pluto return is a transit that no human being will experience. People get pluto square pluto but that's about it. In the US natal chart, pluto is opposite mercury, so a pluto return will also have a mercury flavor and emphasis. Mercury being the planet of communication, reason and wit, a representation of the mind. Pluto being the planet (planetoid, whatever) of death, evolution, obsession, domination and powerlessness, the hidden, transformation. I interpret pluto as using the abuser/victim cycle to harshly force transformative regeneration. It's not nice. People new to astrology get all worked up about their pluto. It's not a good thing. You don't want pluto issues.
This is of personal interest because pluto is emphasized in my chart (my rising planet, conjunct ascendant and other stuff), and it is conjunct mercury. So (if astrology is to be believed) I am a living representative of mercury-pluto. When I had my natal chart read, my astrologer called that feature in my chart the "voice of god" which sounds super dramatic. I have to be careful with communication because what I say will stick with people, for good or ill. I'm not a real astrologer so this is the best mercury-pluto article I have read that rings true for me:
So with mercury-pluto we're talking issues of power and control surrounding thought and communication. Secret information, privacy, obsession with communication, control of information, information revolution, abuse and victimization in communication. The US started with the Declaration of Independence and a revolution against the established system. Super mercury-pluto. And here we are, 2021, and issues of domination and powerlessness regarding communication are surfacing. Very interesting.
Normally fervent religious stuff is more in jupiter's domain, but we did just have a Jupiter-Pluto transit with the Great Conjunction.
I'm fascinated with how this is coming to the surface. By design or coincidence, whether one believes astrology or not.
It's going to be an interesting few years. Ride the tiger or get eaten? Both? I mean, I love this energy, but it's batshit crazy and I know that is also very very bad. Ha ha.
Spouse just played this and it is perfect for the moment, you gotta watch it, it's mad and brilliant:
