Raquel Meyers - KYBDslöjd ASCII Artist

Raquel did the Live Type In video on a C64 on the Ceephax track linked below. She typed the whole sequence in live, and when played back at a speed that fitted the music, it tells a sort of animated story. She is simply amazing.

The video shows art drawn in CBM ASCII (aka PETSCII), which is the character set included in a number of Commodore 8-bit machines.

Vladijenk II (The corroded mainframe at Tartarus) 2015

In the video linked below, you can see her work at a C64 keyboard. The general technique is referred to as KYBDslöjd.

Some KYBDslöjd on a C64 keyboard.

KYBDslöjd means drawing by typing. The grid is the framework and the text characters are the Instructions. A complete method of craft stored in text using technologies from the late 70s and early 80s like the Commodore 64 personal computer, Teletext and Typewriters.
KYBDslöjd was born in the C64 Swedish demoscene (2011-2014), the software and BBS technique were developed in several demo parties. As result, every key press is recorded and save as an animation. What you type is what you get (including the mistakes, there is no Control-Z / undo). You cannot make corrections, so any unintended strikes force you to start all over again.

A bonus find while browsing around Raquel's videos...

This guy linked below does some amazing music, chiptune style, and actual chiptune - he has what looks like modded Gameboys as part of his audio kit, I think running LSDj. I think he now also uses stuff like Renoise.
