Cork Opera House have released a statement on the Panto after the government brought in new rules right before their due to start. From next week indoor gigs and events, including sports, pantos and other entertainment, can only have 50% attendance. This comes in despite loads of tickets having already been sold, leaving organisers of events right up and down the country now pulling their hair out as they decide whether they can go ahead, or cancel tickets and do their best to accommodate those disappointed people elsewhere. There's been fierce excitement for Pantos this year, especially after missing out in 2020, but now there's a lot of confusion as people are wondering can they go while those running them have been given barely any time to try and figure out what they can possibly do. For the Opera House, where Nanny Nellie's Adventures in Pantoland is due to start, they're doing their absolute best to answer the calls. But it's a small team and with so much landed on their laps overnight they've asked for a bit of patience as they get a plan together. CEO Eibhlin Gleeson admitted the announcement is "highly likely" to affect people who've booked in for the shows, and assured them all they're doing their best to deal with the circumstanced put on them.
