With Halloween over...

Hallmark's been playing Christmas shit since last month, the stores were selling Christmas decorations front and center for weeks now.... God. I remember when people were complaining that Christmas was overtaking Thanksgiving. We got reassured Halloween would be the final guard. The terrifying wall that Christmas couldn't overtake because Halloween too was a money maker and acted as a pallet cleanser between end of summer/fall and gearing up for Christmas.

I find little joy in a holiday devoid of meaning except opening a wallet up. I find even less joy in the perennial rant at Christmas's commercialization that's gone on since, at minimum, the charlie brown Christmas special.

There is no joy in me for this season. So, try liven things up wit ha touch of weird. Well, time to break out variants of the classic christmas songs.

The Dagon Tabernacle Choir's take on christmas carols.

'Christmas in July' was a meme that got taken seriously. I remember that shit from the 90's and it is both marketing brilliance (here let's pair these two opposites that also gets people to start thinking about putting stuff on layaway or at least start saving up to spend money for the big end of year push) and utterly disgusting because the Christmas season, from a retail standpoint, starts in august, and ends sometime in February.

No shit, Hallmark had Christmas bullshit in February this past year. Walmart had leftover decorations and stock up as late as then too.

AVGN Vs Christmas Aftermath.

As for decorations? BAH! Depends on the complexity. Those houses that have the full bore 'dear god that has to have been hell to put up and cost a fortune in power' displays? The secret sauce is to begin putting it up right around Halloween. That way you can do a piece at a time so by the time black Friday rolls 'round you can flip the switch and suddenly you have aircraft wondering if you're the landmark they're looking for.
