DNS-CRYPT

WHAT IS DNSCrypt?

DNSCrypt is a protocol that authenticates the communication between the DNS client and the DNS resolver. It uses signatures to verify that responses are coming from the chosen DNS resolver, and have not been tampered with.

It is an open source protocol and is not affiliated with any company nor organixation.

HOW TO USE DNScrypt?

Well DNSCrypt itself is not a software or and application. It is just a protocol that anyone can implement. There have been made multiple tools for various platforms that implement DNSCrypt.

WHY USE IT?

Simplest answer,"Improves your privacy". It encrypts your DNS requests and checks if the response has not been tampered. A number of attacks which use DNS as there target can be avoided.

FOR ME

As for me, I use linux. The most popular implementation of DNSCrypt on linux is dnscrypt-proxy. This is mostly in my opinion. It can be used on its own, or a GUI can be used on top of it. I use the CLI version of it, as I am more comfortable with terminal applications than graphical ones.
