21-11-17 Rethinking my site

Yesterday I stumbled accross the wonderful site of clarity flowers.

clarity flowers (gemini)

The simplicity of it, with links to smaller pages, I really found beautiful.

For a while I've liked the idea of personal wikis/'gardens', and have thought of starting one myself. I tried it once, but got too heavy into the wiki/2nd brain side of things and just ended up annoyed trying to overly link files together and using complex software.

A brilliant page by clarity flowers:

(seriously, go through their site, it's only small but it has some wonderful stuff)

I'm reorganising the little stuff on my site now, moving to directories of things from my weird almost trying to be blog-style page.

I've created a 'texts' directory, which will contain assorted things I've written.

I hope I can keep a promise to write things in this 'journal'.

I always end up scrapping things and over thinking them - worrying about formatting, presentation and what people will think. I have trouble getting my thoughts into words, often when reading back I don't quite agree with what I wrote. This new format of "documents I've written" and "personal journal" I hope will aid against this.

The same goes for projects of mine - I always end up doing a little work and then trying to come up with a "plan" and trying to come up with a name and create an info page, and I end up getting bored and dropping the project in a few days.

I also found this:

https://now.lectronice.com/

This page is awesome, I want something like this.

A week-by-week "this is what I'm doing/how I am" + links.

The issue with Mastodon/Twitter/twtxt is that they're focused on the *right now* and work with announcements/updates, as well as a messaging system. A 'now' page gives an easy overview of things being worked on - simplicity working well.

Also this is a neat search engine for webring.xxiivv.com

I hope one day I qualify for the ring :)
