It was freezing last night. -15°C, not the kind of weather ideal to just stand still and gawk at the sky, in the dark. But still, that’s exactly what I ended up doing. I was taking the dog for a brief walk in the evening. We live far from the city and there is nearly no light pollution at all, and the sky was really clear. I just had to pause and look at the stars. Just stop and gaze... there are so many! We should all just pause once awhile and appreciate our surroundings, what ever they may be. Stay rooted in the present a brief moment and check where you’re at in the universe and time.
Eventually I had to take the dog inside, but I came back outside to freeze my fingers, as I tried to capture the night sky with my cell phone. Yes, I know a cell phone is really not the ideal tool for any night time photography, but hell, I’m gonna try it anyway. The image turned out pretty good. The camera allowed an 8s exposure propped on top of a snow bank. Top that off with a quick brightness & contrast adjustment in Gimp, and here you go! Bask at the wonders of modern cell phone technology! It was more impressive in person, at least you can see there are... SO MANY!
