I may refer to spouse as Mr Killjoy, depending how peeved I still am about thanksgiving.
So Mr Killjoy wants to visit home more often, as long as it doesn't make him lose focus. He had an exam he was worried about. Mr Killjoy is bright and has an excellent memory for details (when he wants), and pretty sure they're not drilling advanced math or hard science so I dunno how challenging he was thinking it would be. He's gotten all anxious before and then reported back that he may have flubbed one question. Same thing, got all worked up about this latest exam, study study study, then reported back he probably only missed a point or two. So he's down to visit this weekend, and I have to go on a drive later today to get him.
I'm going to make him uninstall civ until after his training is done. Trust me, he has played enough civ. I got him a jigsaw puzzle with boba fett (I figure we can modge podge it when he's done and hang it on the wall). I've got paper ornaments that need making. There's minis to paint. I'll get him some macaroni if I have to and he can make mandalorian macaroni portraits. Whatever. There are crafts galore. Do some goddamn crafts. We're gonna get some cheap little cesars pizza (I really wanted a combo pizza from costco but apparently they discontinued the combo pizza in 2020, those fucking monsters, how could they). We're gonna catch up on our shows and I'm going to make him watch Hellier. Spouse ran a paranormal WWII setting a while back (nazis collaborating with aliens and experimenting 'cause nazis) and Hellier should give him some great ideas. I know he's looking forward to running his mech knight setting next, but after that, potentially, Weird Shit.
So this is the plan. I know Mr Killjoy only likes it when I make a plan so he can wreck it but I am in no mood for his antics. Crafts. Pizza. No civ. Pet the kitties. This is the way.
Anyway I gotta do some tidying and do a grocery run (just about eaten all the leftovers) and put the grey project somewhere. As long as it's out of the way it will be fine. Spouse is so used to me doing odd stuff he probably wouldn't ask about it even if it were in the middle of the floor. Benefits of being a known weirdo.
I found an old empty silverware storage box from the thrift store for $3.50. It's a wood box with a lid and a drawer, lined with a tarnish resistant fabric. It has some scratches and bumps, but the hardware is all there and it's in decent shape. I thought it would make a great storage box for my jewelry, because I have a lot of large hoops and bracelets in brass and mixed metals that do tarnish and I lack a storage option that keeps everything together. So I'm working on revamping it into a nice jewelry box. I yanked the fork/spoon/knife divider bracket out of the top compartment. I have a thought about making myself a personal box. Like, I'm not sure what you'd call it, but a box for my weird woo woo shit, like my tarot decks. I'm not a practicing anything so I can't call it an altar. Maybe I'll call it a woo woo box. I've been thinking about it for a few months and I feel like the jewelry box is a partial test run. I ordered some stuff for the jewelry box like a support hinge for the lid and some metal corner protectors (to hide some of the scuffs and damage), and I can use the leftovers for the woo woo box. Maybe I'll find another empty silverware box to use, or a cigar box or a wine box. Anyway, it's percolating. Like I need another project right now.
